to shield the self
the solitude that comforts
the safety of my own being
not you, only me

it was once said that bravery to face vulnerability is virtuous
courageous to parade tears that trickle from the essence of emotions
but i say, bullshit!
it is a choice to protect
or to expose one's self
from the frustrations

imbecillic i sat in silence
drowning in the thoughts of my own
ignoring that of which i detest
praying of a null existence
to vanish

ignorance
naivety
stupidity
mediocrity
all of which i cannot tolerate
unworthy
she a phantasm
absolute abhorrence

indifference
lingers in my breath
like the intoxicating alcohol that runs through the veins of distaste

why does one love when it comes with pain?
you drown in the essence of its ethereal beauty..
you fall out of it, tourturing your soul
an addiction that can never be satiated
the constancy of its need
it pollutes you.. body, mind and soul
yet, you want to escape from it
so i ask you now why?

a plague
a vicious cycle
that deludes you into commitment
the sacrifice of the self
the degradation of identity

but, i love
you love
the world loves
even god
so why do we mere mortals live to diminish ourselves
senseless as it is
i sit and wonder....
